take it in the ear
Hey there radio fans.
After too long of a hiatus, John Hell will be making
his triumphant return to radio, next Monday, August
20th, 8-midnight, on Pirate Cat radio, 87.9FM in SF
and LA, and online at http://piratecatradio.com
I would have loved for Free Radio SF to continue in some vein, and I hope some day it will grow. I also hope for San Francisco Liberation Radio to go back on the air, and perhaps one day it will. Im the meantime, I cannot deny my drug of choice.
I've been contemplating whether or not I was going to
do a show with PC for quite a while. I'm a teacher and
a father, so I already have a lot of responsibilities,
but I cannot ignore my passion: radio.
I started in radio 1988 at KCSM, went on to do nine
years at KFJC, co-founder of Radio Free Burning Man in
1994, and three years at San Francisco Liberation
Radio, up to the FCC raid in October of 2003. I was
also a button monkey at a few commercial stations in
ther too. It's been four years since I've had a radio
show!
Dang, that's way too long.
Though I've enjoyed producing my weekly podcast, it's
not nearly the same as live radio.
I'll be doing weekly interviews, a mix a musical
genres, selections from my vast live music library,
and a lot more punk, funk and junk for your face (and
ears).
If you, or someone you know is interested in being
interviewed by myself on Pirate Cat, please let me
know. I've interviewed hundreds of folks over the
years, ranging from politicians, musicians, artists,
writers, activists, etc. You name it, I've interviewed
them.
I'm very excited by this opportunity. Pirate Cat Radio
takes is position as a community radio station
seriously. They continue to produce numerous local
benefits in SF, and wish to build on this. I am hoping
with my background in community radio to be an asset
to this growing station.
Take a look at their website, read about them, and
how/why PC continues to be on the air without the use
of a license.
Again, if you or anyone you know wishes to be
interviewed on Pirate Cat Radio, please drop me a
line.
